No Capturo Momentos — Los Transformo

Actualizado: 10 abr

I don't capture moments. I transform them.

That line has been true for as long as I can remember — long before I could articulate it. But it took years of photographing weddings, families, and portraits before I finally gave myself permission to follow it all the way.

Michelle Bres Studio is the result of that permission. It is not a pivot. It is an arrival.

What changed

Photography, at its most honest, is an act of translation — not documentation. What interests me is not the fraction of a second frozen by a shutter. What interests me is what happens when that image enters into conversation with something else: an illustration, a historical artifact, a symbol, a color that shouldn't be there.

Mixed media. Intervention. Transformation.

The work I'm making now lives in the space between photography and visual art. It borrows from the history of painting, from surrealism, from the centuries of image-makers who believed that a picture could hold more than what was visible.

The studio

I work from San Miguel de Allende, Mexico — a city that has always understood that beauty is not decoration. It is argument. The light here, the color, the colonial architecture layered over indigenous history, the international community of artists and collectors who have made this place home: all of it informs what I make.

Everything produced at Michelle Bres Studio is a limited edition giclée print, signed and numbered, printed on archival Hahnemühle paper. These are not reproductions. They are the work.

Expandirme siempre, conformarme nunca.
