Stop taking photos. Start making them.

Feel. Observe. Listen.

We all carry an incredible camera in our pocket, and almost no one uses it with intention. Taking a photo is pointing and shooting. Making a photo is deciding what you want to say before you touch the screen. That's what I teach: first the idea, then composition, light and editing. All on your iPhone.

Same scene. A different eye.

Same place, same phone. What changes is the decision: where I stand, what I leave out, where the light comes from and how I edit it. Seville, 2023 — iPhone.

01

Where I stand

Changing the angle changes the story: straight on, from below, from above.

03

Where the light comes from

Backlight, side or front: the light sets the mood of the photo.

02

What I leave out

Framing is choosing. What's not in the photo also counts.

04

How I edit it

Color or black and white: editing finishes telling what you saw.

Hi, I'm Michelle.

Conceptual fine-art photographer · San Miguel de Allende

I'm a photographer and visual artist. I've been teaching photography workshops since 2011. I won't give you tricks: I'll teach you to see, the way I do in my own work.

Five modules. One process.

Each module ends with "Practice time": you go out and make photos, not just watch videos.
