Versailles, November 17, 2015 — four days after the Paris attacks. The palace stood nearly empty, stripped of its usual crowds, returned briefly to its original silence.

A vintage race car glides across the geometric symmetry of the grand courtyard — number 42, the only detail that breaks the spell. The car is a digital intervention: a young man photographed decades ago, now placed inside a scene he never lived. The driver is the artist's father. The palace doesn't blink. Time here is the most ornate fiction of all.

Photographed on location at the Palace of Versailles, France. Digital mixed media.
