Versailles, November 17, 2015 — four days after the Paris attacks. The palace stood nearly empty, stripped of its usual thousands of tourists, returned briefly to its original silence.

Bare trees dissolve into fog, the path forward made deliberately indistinct. Everything sharp has been refused. This is not abandonment — it is the moment just before something is decided. Shot in the deserted gardens of Versailles on a day the world was still holding its breath.

Photographed on location at the Gardens of Versailles, France.
